CS Fluid:
• Sterile tube or Cytolyt fluid


III. PROCEDURE

1. Cerebrospinal fluid should be refrigerated immediately and transported refrigerated. If ordering cytology
    ONLY, cerebrospinal fluid can be placed in Cytolyt preservative and submitted to the laboratory.
2. Place in a biohazard bag along with the completed requisition in the side pocket of the specimen bag.
    Be certain to include pertinent clinical information, i.e. previous malignancy, CJD, radiation therapy,
    drugs, etc.

IV. QUALITY CONTROL

• Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL
• Storage Requirements: Refrigerated
• Stability Requirements: 2 Days
